Dear Members and Friends,
For the past few months, Sydney Malayalee Association with the valuable support from our volunteers set up Community Response Teams (CRT) to help the community impacted by Covid 19. So far we have provided 2500+ meals, rental assistance and other support services for those who deserved help. We are extremely happy to share that the NSW Government has recognised and awarded us a grant of $5000 to continue our services during the Covid 19 pandemic. We thank the Consulate of India and other well-wishers who have provided proactive support for us. We not only conduct virtual programs (mainly Zoom), we back it up by providing meaningful services in our community.
We will continue to provide the below services;
– Emergency assistance packs to deserving individuals and families
– Rental assistance to international student community & those who are in financial distress.
– Counselling support for those require such services.
If you or anyone you know require such services, please contact Sydmal’s Community Response Team.
To ensure the promptness and authenticity of our communications, we are revamping our communication channels. All our broadcasts will remain through our existing Sydmal Facebook group, email and websites. We will modify all our WhatsApp Groups to ensure that the important community service information is properly conveyed to members. Other sources may mimic those messages of Sydmal, we request you to be cautious with the information from these sources.
Our next ‘Sydmal Connect 4’ will be broadcasted through Zoom. This session is to encourage and complement the works/activities of children under 13 years old. Please join us on Saturday 18th July at 7pm.
To continue our community activities here in Australia and overseas, we are always looking for new members to get involved with Sydmal. (for more details please visit: https://sydmal.com.au/membership/).
Regards,
Secretary-Sydmal
