Welcome to the website of Sydney Malayalee Association Inc. (affectionately called “Sydmal”). Malayalee Association was officially formed in 1976 by a group of Malayalee origin friends during a picnic trip attended by less than 25 families (known strength of Malayalees in Sydney then) Mr Mathew Mamootti was elected as president and Mr Raman Iyer was elected as Secretary. Associations first Onam was celebrated at Berala Jubilee Hall in1976 with cultural programs, eminent Heart Surgeon Dr Catre Mill was the special guest for the function. OnaSadhya was prepared under the leadership of Bhaskaran Nair. Now it is the voice of the Sydney Malayalee community and its activities are designed to promote the rich and vibrant culture of Kerala to the Malayalee community in Sydney.

As a member of the Sydney Malayalee Association, as its supporter or just as a visitor, you will find useful and relevant information in our web pages. We will strive to provide information that are more focused on matters that are of interest to the Malayalee community in Sydney , and also to those who are planning to visit or migrate to Sydney and call Sydney their Home.
